Peter Arvidson built his reputation with his unique style of naif representation combined with jewel-like colors and imagery reminiscent of the works of Paul Klee. Arvidson's works have always displayed a highly developed sense of color as well as great sophistication in the color harmonies he creates. His recent pieces tend toward child-like renderings of patchwork countrysides exploring the concept of "home" and that care-free existence that is experienced in youth. These panoramic landscapes are likely influenced from countrysides glimpsed from road trips through the years. Rural farmlands with fields of color, playgrounds with rickety swing sets, pull wagons, floating trees and little cubby houses become icons for these dream worlds. They are idealized landscapes far away from electronic trappings and noisy chaos.
