About the Item
A wonderful, unique, very engaging original indigenous Australian Aboriginal dreaming painting by Northern Territory artist Robin Marrwurduwurdu (Lamilami) Nganjmirra (1951-1991 or 1950-1990) who was a renowned Oenpelli painter from Arnhem Land and a prominent figure in contemporary Indigenous Australian art. This work features a rainbow serpent/ snake (Borlung or Jingana) who is a most revered totemic ancestor of Western Arnhemland Aborigine peoples and a turtle figure.

The painting is made with natural earth ochre pigments which are hand painted on natural organic flattened stringybark wood panels taken usually from eucalyptus trees.
