About the Item
The cigarette cutter offered here is not only an antique, but also an absolute curiosity, which is probably rare to find on the market.
We see a bulldog looking out of a tobacco barrel.
Its two hind legs and tail form the three feet of the object.
Its mouth is wide open to receive the cigarettes.
Pushing down on the dog actuates a blade in its mouth that guillotines the cigarette.
The cuttings fall into the barrel, which is closed at the back by a plug.
The plaque mounted on the front with the inscription "Kusch dich!" suggests an origin in southern Germany and is derived from the dog command Kusch, from the French "couche", translated "Lie down!".
