Bronze Matchbook Sculpture, 1996 USA

About the Item

Handsome, patina'ed bronze statue of a matchbook, signed by artist and dated 1996. Tremendously heavy at approximately 50 pounds. Gorgeous silhouettes throughout and a lovely organic texture. Several matches are sculpted at angles, such that they mimic the shape of a singed, spent match. A single match protrudes from the statue's base and appears to lift the box open. Incredibly sturdy and well made. Rugged yet elegant presence. Entirely unique. Gorgeous statement piece of folk art. Located at our Hamptons, NY gallery.
