Harvey Peterson O’Cedar Mop Man Folk Art Figural Sculpture

About the Item

A wonderful figural folk art sculpture of an O’Cedar Mop Man by contemporary Maine artist Harvey Peterson (20th/21st c). Peterson was born in Seattle, WA, and got his a BFA and MFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art. Harvey spent over 2 decades teaching and educating in the Baltimore area at the Bryn Mawr and Gilman Schools, before moving to Belfast, Maine in 1997, where he currently has his studio and gallery. His paintings and sculptures have been exhibited in many solo shows and he has been represented in established galleries on both the east and west coasts. This sculpture is constructed around an early 20th century O’Cedar Mop advertising tin as a body, with painted carved wood, and thin rope or string as hair, and checkered or gingham fabric for trousers, unsigned. A truly whimsical piece of American folk art! Dimensions: 44 in H x 21 in W x 5.5 in D. Ref: 8
