Rare Italian Hand Carved Folk Art Santos Doll, circa 1840

About the Item

We are proud to offer a mid-19th century hand carved figure of a Santos doll. The figure is made using pine wood and section constructed with pinned wooden dowels. Some paint remains, glass eyes still intact. The item stands alone once balanced. From the reverse the item still has 2 holes in its back, likely to have been mounted or supported in some way. A rare example and visually very compelling and artistic. Dimensions in inches: H 14 x W 6 x D 4 Origin: English Period: Mid-19th century Condition: Aged through wear and tear is present across this item in areas, fading of its wooden surface and loss of paint.
