Vintage Simon Beer Dimensional Advertising Sign

About the Item

c. 1970s/1980s; The William Simon Brewery - Buffalo, NY Vintage embossed composite, faux wood advertising sign. This piece advertises Simon Pure, a regional beer from upstate New York. This particular beer's name has a double meaning, as "simon pure" defines something as being "completely genuine, authentic, or honest." This sign features a faux-wood backdrop with embossed lettering; crowning this piece is a dimensional ceramic buffalo head, referencing the city where the beer was brewed. William Simon Brewery was originally founded by John Schusler in 1859. After Schusler died in 1888, William Simon, a young immigrant who had been working closely with Schusler, became president and later introduced Simon's Brand Standard and Simon's Wurzburger to the business in 1899. The William Simon Brewery finally closed in 1972.
