1950s Wood Himachal Pot

About the Item

This seemingly simple wooden vase is a design object of infinite beauty and elegance that can be placed in either an antique or a modern or contemporary setting. They are Indian artefacts from the Himachal Pradesh region and have been skilfully crafted from a single piece of neem wood that gives these beautiful vases their characteristic grooves. These vases are very useful and can hold kitchen utensils, brushes, dried flowers and more, or they can be used as decorative sculptural objects. The possibilities are endless. This irresistible handcrafted wooden vessel with its majestic shape possesses both a practical function in everyday life and a ceremonial function for great occasions. A useful object that was used daily in most families in the Kulu valley in Himachal Pradesh. As with all handmade items, variations can occur. Small chips, cracks, holes in the bottom and colour variations are qualities of the vintage condition of the vase and are not considered defects. Each one is different from the other.
This artwork, never before on the market, comes from an important European private collection. Every item of our Gallery, upon request, is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity issued by Sabrina Egidi official Expert in Italian furniture for the Chamber of Commerce of Rome and for the Rome Civil Courts.
