These large spiral brass earrings, crafted from a single thick brass wire are called 'Padung', a type of earring worn by the Batak Karo Tribe from northern Sumatra, Indonesia. This large low grade silver & brass spiral earring are completely solid, due to their heavyweight, these earrings are usually attached to a headdress so as not to tear the earlobe. The 'Padung' Earrings are worn by married women.
