About the Item
Powerful Scarified Makonde portrait helmet mask from Tanzania. Early 20th century with heavy dark patina from traditional tribal use, wear inside from being used. Finely carved features, incised scarification zig zag lines on cheeks, forehead and sides of head, attached hair top front of head. Finely carved lips, open mouth showing filed teeth. Nice wear and patina inside and out from traditional use.
Measures: 9 1/2 inches high. Includes custom wood and metal stand, total height 12 1/2 inches.
