About the Item
The form of this Swazi headrest consists of an upper section supported by two tapering legs, fluted with vertical grooves.
A central lug features on the underside of the headrest, next to an old label. This label provides an insight into the story behind this piece, describing how the headrest was collected around 1960 from Simon Lukhele (b.1933) of Ngobhadze, Swaziland.
Over time, the slightly oily surface of this headrest has developed a deep patina.
