Antique American Figural Painted Copper Horse Weatherwane with Cast Directional

About the Item

This figural antique weathervane is usigned, but presumed to have originated from the United States and date to approximately 1880 and done in the period Victorian style. The top of the weathervane is done in formed copper to depict a galloping horse. The directional is composed of cast iron with a solid steel post. The full bodied horse is quite detailed on both sides and swings freely on the post as does the N,S,E,W directional letters and the entire weathervane has been painted black some time ago. Please note we have not altered the original post, which stands over seventy inches in height, so it could still function as a working weathervane or garden element, or cut down and put in a stand as home decor.
