Antique Glass Pendant, Holophane, Glass Top & Bottom, ca. 1910, American

About the Item

This pendant is timeless. It looks modern at first until you study the glass and the workmanship. While unsigned it certainly looks like the work of the Holophane Glass Co. They opened their first company in the U.S. in New York in 1896. For a more detailed history we suggest you use your computer to research as there is too much information to discuss here. This pendant has the distinction of having glass on top and bottom with a hinge in the center to get to the socket. The light it offers can be so bright without ever showing blinding light bulbs. The light is diffused, a major advantage to lighting up an area. I have seen similar smaller examples, but this one can be used in an entryway, hall, breakfast room, or really anywhere for that matter. A truly special simple light for your home. Yes. I really love this one !
