About the Item
Unique and all handcrafted, practical size antique circular chandelier.
Some chances you only get once in your life and that is exactly what we thought when we first saw this unique Arts & Crafts era, Folk Art pendant. In the first half of the 1900s creating decorative items for use in homes, chalets and restaurants in the South of Germany was still very much 'en vogue'. This art of hand-carving items was handed down generation after generation and therefor besides professionals, a large number of non-professionals too would love to do this as a pastime. In this day and age most men cannot even drive a screw in the wall, simply because 'we' were raised behind computers and everything 'we' use in our homes is cheaper to replace than to repair. This marvelous light fixture, to us, also is reminiscent / displays of what life used to be like before electricity, radio, television etc 'took over'. People still had to create a good atmosphere themselves. They would do so in all kinds of ways and making music together would be one of them. Judging from the smiles on their faces these 'people' really are enjoying themselves. We also love the way in which they are dressed, because the different clothing styles of each couple also tells us something about what they did in life. However, what makes this Folk Art chandelier stand out from any that we have seen before are the detailed carvings. The body postures, the clothes and especially the detailed facial expressions (filled with joy) are some of the best that you will ever see in this Folk Art genre. Besides that this antique light also is extremely original. Even the 3 socket holders of this 3-light pendant are the original, handcrafted wooden ones. The perfectly matching canopy and original metal chain are like the icing on the cake of this work of (folk) art chandelier. As you can see in our photos this solid wooden pendant also has the most beautiful patina. We will rewire this unique chandelier to the highest standard for safe and immediate usage the world over. We can think of many types of spaces where this light will look great, but we are certain that whomever likes this light as much as we do will know exactly where it should be mounted. By the way, thanks to the metal hook on top of the canopy, mounting this pendant could not be easier.
