Measures: 22.50h x 13.50w x 4d in
57.15h x 34.29w x 10.16d cm
JSE069
In the early Nineties, John Seubert was living in a former hotel in a high-rise building on St. James Place in Chicago. The apartment was tiny, as hotel rooms tend to be, and clad with paper-thin walls allowing sound to pass from one apartment to the other. At the time, John’s artwork consisted of pounding copper sheets into tables which was a noisy endeavor to say the least. Following several noise complaints from the neighbors, John had a dream that he was living in a ramshackle house but with plenty of room to work and no attached neighbors. The following day after lunching at the McDonalds in Lincoln Park, John wandered the neighborhood a came upon a shabby, falling-down old Victorian house. He located the real estate agent, put in an offer, and weeks later was pushing a shopping cart full of his belongings to his new home.
This 144-year-old Painted Lady provided a blank canvas for this inimitable artist. For many years the house remained so empty that John was able to ride his Japanese fold up bike throughout the 1st floor. “Some people want to have sex...

Large Antique Crucifix with a Hand Carved & Bronzed Wooden Corpus of Jesus 1800s
Located in Lisse, NL
Unique and large size, antique corpus of Christ on a blackened oak cross.
If you are looking for a large crucifix with a not too overwhelming corpus of Christ for your house of prayer or for your home(chapel) then this unique ecclesiastical antique from the late 1800s could be the one. According to the former owner, this ancient bronze-color painted and sizable corpus and cross came from a monastery in Germany. The details in the anatomy of this Christ sculpture are very well carved and they clearly reveil the work of a seasoned carver / sculptor. We were also immediately impressed by the coloring, because the patina on this corpus from a little distance very much resembles the patina of antique bronze sculptures that you can find in every major market square here in Europe. We also particularly appreciate the details in the face and the position of the head of Christ. Both the angle in which He bowes His head and the details in His face are very realistic and they leave a lasting impression. We believe the artist has perfectly captured the moment in which Jesus bowed His head as He died on the cross. The ebonized oak cross is original to this corpus, but we think it was ebonized later in time, because it makes this unique and stunning sculpture stand out better. This solid oak cross has metal-strengthened openings in the back (both atop and at the bottom) via which this crucifix is safe and easy to mount. Because of the quality, the rarity, the large size, the beauty and the deeper meaning we are convinced that this antique crucifix too will find a new home soon. Whether it be in a private home, monastery or in a church, this work of religious art from the late 1800's will never fail to impress. Thanks to the pair of metal hooks on the back, safely mounting this ecclesiastical antique tight to your wall will be very easy to do.
Our fair price for this one of a kind crucifix even includes perfect packing (in a custom made crate) and also worldwide delivery from our store to your door in just 4 to 6 days.
Maximum height x width x depth of the cross & corpus: 56 x 30.5 x 8 inches.

Hand Carved Floor Sculpture of a Golfer in Knickerbocker & Scottish Tartan Socks
Located in Lisse, NL
Large and rare, solid wooden vintage golfer sculpture with glass eyes.
This golfer in his early to mid 20th century golf outfit is ready to take on the Augusta National and he is an absolute joy to own and look at. The natural and cery relaxed body posture is very well carved out of solid wood (probably elm) and it reveals the work of a skilled artist. Every golfer knows that the key to playing a good round is the inner peace that needs to come over you. And after that perfect round you will realize that it was that inner calmness that was at the root of playing your A-game. Looking at the very relaxed posture of this dressed to impress Scottish male golfer, we feel he is ready to break down the course. The stylish Scottish tartan socks are one give away of this players nationality, but we feel the blue and white of the golfclub too refer to the colors of the Scottish flag...
