About the Item
A brass pendant light by Hans-Agne Jakobsson for his company in Markaryd, Sweden, mid-20th century. An unusual and rarely seen piece of Nordic design. Labelled.
The brass shade and original brass ceiling canopy are in nice vintage condition with age-appropriate wear and a heavy patina which we have left as found. The shade is in two parts with all four original connecting screws and spacers in place; very minor warping to the shape. We have categorised this piece as in fair condition to draw attention to these points. The wiring is original - we recommend it is renewed in the country of install to ensure it meets local needs and regulations. The lamp-holder takes an E27 screw-fitting bulb; we always advise low-heat options to protect the fixture.

Hans-Agne Jakobsson
Hans-Agne Jakobsson was a Swedish interior and furniture designer, who ran his own company from 1951. Jakobsson was especially famous for his lighting designs, which often had a softly glowing light and organic shape. His designs were inspired by great, modern Scandinavian designers such as the Finnish icon Alvar Aalto and Danish lighting master Poul Henningsen.
