Three candle-style light fittings rest on rope-woven bobeches. These iconic postwar French designs fit beautifully into coastal, wabi-sabi, or mid-century interiors. A statement addition for collectors and design lovers who value authenticity, craftsmanship, and natural materials. Adrien Audoux & Frida Minnet. French-Swiss modernist design duo (active mainly in the 1940s–1950s). Adrien Audoux, originally from Franche-Comté, and Frida Minnet, who was Swiss-born, were a married couple and design partners. They founded their design studio in Cannes in 1929, likely during their honeymoon. In 1942, they relocated to Golfe-Juan (French Riviera), where they developed their distinctive style. Their work was grounded in the use of natural and accessible materials like: Hemp rope Rattan Bamboo Wood They embraced a rustic modernism, creating pieces that were both functional and warm, blending modern design principles with handcrafted aesthetics. Their approach was informed by a post-war context, emphasizing simplicity, honesty in materials, and affordability. Chairs, armchairs, tables, and light fixtures made with rope and wood. Organic lines and raw, tactile textures. A cozy, artisanal look that contrasts with the more industrial modernist trends of the time. They became especially known for their rope furniture, which gained popularity in the 1950s and is now emblematic of their style. Their pieces were often commissioned by or sold to the affluent clientele of the French Riviera.
