About the Item

Three "Pyramid" pendant lamps (Italy) designed by Paolo Piva for Mazzega. Made of blue Murano glass with a simple geometric shape, but featuring grooves inside that provide movement. It's a pyramid with a base of 12 cm and a height of 9 cm. Paolo Piva (1950-2017) was a renowned Italian architect and designer known worldwide. He graduated in architecture from the University of Venice and participated in solo and group exhibitions. In 1975, he collaborated with the Institute of History and Architecture in Venice and the Akademie für Angewandten Kunst in Vienna on a major exhibition about socialist-era Vienna. In the 1980s, he designed the Kuwaiti Embassy in Qatar and was involved in the design competition for the renovation of the FIAT Lingotto in Turin. In 1986, he designed the renovation of Palazzo Remer in Venice. In 1987, he was recognized at the XIII Compasso d'Oro Award. In the field of industrial design, he collaborated with prestigious companies in Europe and the USA. Murano glass is a type of artistic glass produced on the island of Murano, located in the Venice Lagoon, Italy. This glass is renowned for its beauty, craftsmanship, and centuries-old tradition. The distinctive features of Murano glass include: 1- Vibrant and rich colors: Murano glass is famous for its wide range of vibrant colors. Artisans use a variety of pigments to create rich and intense shades. 2- Handcrafted: The production of Murano glass is an art that requires skill and precision. Artisans follow traditional techniques passed down through generations, often shaping the glass by hand with specialized tools. 3- Murrine: Murrine are small sections of colored glass arranged in a specific pattern within a larger slab. This technique is typical of Murano glass and can be used to create complex geometric designs or images. 4- Lampworking: Some Murano glass objects are created using the "lampworking" technique, involving the manipulation of heated glass tubes over a flame to shape them into desired forms. 5- Transparency and luminosity: Murano glass is known for its crystalline transparency and the ability to reflect light magnificently. This attribute contributes to its beauty and makes it ideal for creating jewelry, chandeliers, and art objects.
