Studio Alchimia Arc-en-ciel Rainbow Lamp Designed by Andrea Bellosi White Marble

About the Item

Studio Alchimia Arc-en-Ciel lamp, designed by Andrea Belossi in 1979. After the sun comes rain: A wonderful example of the postmodern lighting is the Arc-en-Ciel lamp, designed by Andrea Belossi for Studio Alchimia. By Imitating a natural phenomenon it creates an artificial landscape in your home. The lamp itself is a great example of postmodern lighting turning towards the creation of light atmospheres. The rainbow pattern is created by a prism that breaks the Ray of the halogen bulb into spectral colours, that are projected throughout the room. By turning the axis of the lamp the position of the prism and therefore the position of the projection can be leveled up and down, a dimmer allows to stear light intensity. During the day it will cast a light rainbow, and a very bright after sunset. The entire lamp itself will become hot (!) and it must not be moved in that moment. It also should not be cooled after use (also should not become wet) Further the metal shield becomes very hot and must not be touched when turned on and heated to prevent injury. Therefore it should not be used when children are around. The lamp is in used but good to very good condition showing mostly minor scratches on the shield. The prism is in very good condition & the lamp is fully working. The plug is for European standard and you may have to change it according to your standard or use a adapter. The lamp has a RS7 socket for standard 350Watt halogen bulbs.
