19th C. Gilt Metal Lotus Flower and Bird Floor Lamp
About the Item
Wonderful tripod floor lamp of gilt metal with yellow, green and red patina showing through the bronze colour.
Represents a lotus flower or water lily, with a large tray-like leaf near the base engraved with flowers and leaves, and smaller leaves higher up the stem. A large lotus flower head forms the top of the lamp, with a bulb fixture inside. The stem is carved as faux-bamboo. There are also two intricately carved and gilded birds attached to the stem.
Possibly from Japan. Same style lamp/sculpture shown at the Musée du Quai d'Orsay in Paris.
