About the Item

An extraordinary period Empire gilded gold dore bronze rolling floor candelabrum. Born in France, the stunning Neo-classical style architectural antique, circa 1805, featuring an exquisite, elaborately decorated ormolu mounted composite Corinthian order capital topped tall fluted column standard, surmounted by thirteen decadent foliate scrolled gilt bronze arms, rising on finely chiseled and sculpted wreath and swag ormolu mounted bronze steeped plinth, with decorative fiolate motif running ornamentation accents, above painted faux verde marble wooden steep plinth base, resting on four casters. Signed. Dimensions (approx): 65" high, 15" wide, 15" deep (165.1 x 38.1 cm) Condition Report: Very good. Original antique condition. Patinated, scattered minor verdigris to bronze surfaces, scattered flaking and loss to painted surfaces, with all wear commensurate with age and indicative of use.

France, 19th century, luxurious Baroque taste, almost certainly commissioned for and originally part of a Catholic church, this repurposed building element now mounted on a substantial white painted domed cylindrical base and fashioned into a highly decorative sculptural object / display pedestal / torchiere candle stand or potentially mounted as an electrified floor lamp / jardiniere plant stand or whatever else you can imagine!
