Murano Glass Floor Lamp by C. Nason for Selenova - Italy - 1960s

About the Item

An elegant testament to the Italian avant-garde design of the 1960s, this rare floor lamp is a masterpiece signed by Carlo Nason for the Selenova manufactory, famous for its collaborations with Murano's finest glass masters. The entire body develops with a plastic balance of great scenic impact: the stem, articulated in three modular sections of white opaline glass, rises with sober monumentality, acting as a luminous column that diffuses a soft and uniform light. The choice of milky white glass is not accidental: in addition to ensuring an even spread, it recalls the minimalist and experimental aesthetic that characterized Nason's work at the time. A wide blown Murano glass bowl, a warm, sunny yellow, is grafted onto the top, introducing a powerful chromatic element, enhancing the transparency and textural depth typical of Venetian craftsmanship. This cup, in addition to its optical and decorative function, houses within it an element of rare originality: an irregularly shaped, almost organic white bowl that seems to float in the golden transparency of the surrounding glass. This interplay of volumes, shapes, and colors creates a dynamic and sophisticated lighting effect that makes each lighting a small play. Striking a perfect balance between art and functionality, this lamp is not just a light fixture, but a true light sculpture, a testament to Carlo Nason's experimental approach and the extraordinary technical skill of the Murano masters. Its scenic presence makes it ideal for sophisticated settings where you want to combine light, art and historic Italian design. Rare and sought-after piece, preserved in excellent original condition. Carlo Nason (Murano, 1935)u2028Descended from a historic Murano family active in glassmaking since the 18th century, Carlo Nason stands out in the Italian design scene for his visionary style and constant striving for formal and technical experimentation. After training in direct contact with the island's master glassmakers, he developed an independent career working with prestigious manufactures such as A.V. Mazzega and Selenova. His work lies at the crossroads of art and industrial design, and is characterized by innovative use of blown glass, elegant volumes, and an almost sculptural sensibility in the conception of luminous objects. His creations are now part of important museum and private collections, appreciated internationally. Selenovau2028Founded in the 1960s, Selenova represents one of the most interesting brands in Italian post-World War II lighting. Specializing in the production of Murano glass lamps, the company stands out for the high quality of its materials and its ability to combine craftsmanship and signature design. In the years of his greatest activity, Selenova collaborated with some of the most innovative names on the Italian scene, including Carlo Nason, making unique and limited edition pieces that are now sought after on the collectors' market for their aesthetic and historical value.
