About the Item

There is much to say about these remarkable lamps. The metal work is finished in a polished bronze and the castings are a smorgasbord of fabulous detailed work that includes lions and swans. Besides that, work we urge you to look at all the other interesting and intricate cast segments. There are no stock parts on these lamps. Nothing here was bought from some warehouse. We particularly love the detail of those swans. The shades are molded very heavy glass and done in the manner of Lalique. The shades are committed to an Art Nouveau design with graceful, flowing dancing nudes. Usually these torchiere shades have a repeating pattern within the mold, not the case here as the pattern is not duplicated in the glass as we pictured here. We have been selling antique lighting for over 40 years and these are the best floor lamps we have ever owned and probably ever seen. I showed them to 2 other long time antique lamp dealers and they both thought they were the best they had ever seen too. Tiffany could not have done these any better. They were custom made for someone. These are a ten on any scale. We have been very excited about getting these up for sale since we found them. They were shipped to us, and then we got them rewired for safety and also installed switches on the floor to make them easier to turn off and on. We urge you to find anything in antique floor lamps that compare in quality and design of these. These can go with anything from Victorian to Art Deco period room settings. They do borrow from a few styles, but the shades say Art Nouveau, so that is how we are listing them. They are not signed. We are still trying to determine who was the maker. We can guess, but we'd rather say for sure and as yet we can only guess. We know they came from the Chicago area. If you have a sofa and want 2 lamps on either side to complete the setting, here is a special find. We should also mention that these are very heavy and are extremely stabile. They take 3 bulbs with standard bases that you can buy anywhere, and they are tall enough so that you will not see the light bulbs or the inside of the shade. I am 6'2” tall and I can't come close to seeing the exposed light bulbs inside even when standing on my toes.

Rewired: We like to rewire our lights. We also added floor switches for convenience as originally these must have been wired into a wall switch. Wear consistent with age and use. There are a couple of bubbles in the glass as shown, and they are original to the making of the glass. There are some tiny nicks and roughness on the inside edges of the glass. Nothing that you can see from the outside and doesn't detract at all.

A very nice clean example of a leaded glass table lamp from the early part of the 20th century. The lamp was made by Lamb Bros. The ring on the top of the shade was done by Lamb Bros. The heat cap and finial are also the work of Lamb Bros. It's an antique leaded glass made famous by Tiffany.
