About the Item
Scarce flush mount light by renowned architect and designer Tito Agnoli.
Model 4448 B, created in Italy in 1959 and manufactured by O-Luce.
Lacquered aluminium, brass and Fresnel optical glass lens.
1x E27 Edison socket.
The lamp is entirely hand-made.
Each pieces are stamped 9, so hand adjusted to only fit each other.
Furthermore this lamp is most likely the 9th one out of 20/25 of this model ever produced in Oluce's workshop.

Tito Agnoli was born into an Italian family, in Lima, Peru, in 1931. He came to Italy after the war. Trained as a painter, in 1949 he enrolled in the Faculty of Architecture, where he graduated in 1959 and was assistant to Gio Ponti and to Carlo De Darli. However, even in the early 1950s, he was already carrying out an intense professional activity in the field of design. He has created projects for, among others, Arflex, Cinova, Lema, Matteo Grassi, Molteni, Montina, Oluce, Pierantonio Bonacina, Poltrona Frau, Schiffini, Ycami. Several times recommended for the Compasso d’Oro (Golden Compass) Award, in 1986 he won the Gold Medal at the Neocon in Chicago. Some of his pieces are kept in the permanent collection of the MoMa in New York. He died in Milan on February 2012. (Source O Luce).

Tito Agnoli
Prolific designer Tito Agnoli created imaginative furniture with a singular mix of natural and industrial materials. Designing in the modern and mid-century modern styles, he made sofas, armchairs and daybeds from leather, bamboo and rattan as well as metal table lamps and floor lamps.
Born into an Italian family in Peru in 1931, Agnoli studied at the Faculty of Architecture in Milan. In 1949, he graduated with a degree in architecture from Politecnico di Milano. While there, he became acquainted with designers Gio Ponti and Carlo De Carli. He later worked with them as an assistant, learning to create austere pieces with flawless dimensions.
Utilizing this knowledge, he developed his own practice and worked with many Italian producers, including Arflex, Cinova, Lema, Matteo Grassi, Molteni, Montina, Oluce, Pierantonio Bonacina, Poltrona Frau, Schiffini and Ycami.
Agnoli received prestigious nominations for the Compasso d’Oro award. At the 1986 NeoCon exhibition in Chicago, he won a gold medal. His works are in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
