About the Item
A scarce antique, circa 1785, Middle Eastern hand painted and blown glass Mosque lamp, 18th / early 19th century, the stunning blue glass mosque oil lamp having a large flared rim, over bulbous body, with three glass handles to the body used for hanging the lamp, remnants of elaborate hand-painted black and gold decoration including Islamic geometric, abstract floral patterns, scrollwork and calligraphy.
Highly decorative, interesting, architectural, conversational and historical, it makes for a fascinating decorative object, intriguing cultural curiosity, and important religious folk art work.
