French 19th century Louis XV st. Belle Epoque Period Ormolu and Glass lantern

About the Item

A most elegant and intricately detailed French 19th century Louis XV st. Belle Epoque Period Ormolu and Glass lantern. This stunning lantern is centered at the bottom by an Ormolu foliate finial leading to the glass cage enclosed on four sides. Richly detailed pierced acanthus leaf scrolls culminate at the four cardinal points and showcase handsome masks of Zephyrus with wild flowing hair. Wonderful scrolled foliate movements lead up the four sides and connect at the top crown by large scale acanthus leaves. The partially open crown continues the sumptuously scrolled design into the finial which delicately hangs from twin ornamental rings, and is finally topped by a tastefully scrolled matching canopy.
