Antique French Wrought Iron Lantern, circa 1900
Located in Dallas, TX
Featuring a hexagonal main body, this antique wrought iron hanging lantern is from France, circa 1900. Each of the rectangular sides is topped by a pediment of fleur de lys with foliate detailing. One side has a functioning door, which would have been used to change filaments, as the sides originally had glass panes. Near the top of each side is a volute scroll that forms the attachment point for the six arms, each wrapped in a curled leaf. The arms come together in a volute crown with a center eyelet for hanging purposes. In a similar fashion, additional volutes near the base trail down into a hanging noix that also serves as the collar for the lighting capital. A perfect source of illumination for a small area such as an entry hall, bathroom, or study, the lantern could also be paired with an antique lantern holder...

Pair of Antique 1920s Arts & Crafts Hanging Lanterns in Metal and Handmade Glass
Located in COLMAR, FR
A rare set of two matching antique lanterns (pendant lamps). The lanterns have no maker's markings but most likely dates from the early 1900s. Their design is strongly inspired by the Arts and Crafts mouvement (1880-1920). The lanterns have been sourced in Northeastern France. These antique lanterns are made to be suspended. The structure of the lanterns is made of metal, most likely a copper alloy. The inside is made of slightly amber colored/smokey glass that has been mouth blown into the wrought metal frame in one single piece. When lightened, the light does not only shine through the body of the lantern but also through the small, circular glass sections on the top and on the bottom of the lantern. The lanterns are sold unwired. There is a hole on the top of each lantern for easy wiring, i.e. fit for a wire with a light socket. They can thus easily be adapted to any voltage (see photo). The lanterns are sold without lighting chains...
