About the Item
A distinct piece from the Venetian tradition, this applique by Maestri Vetrai captures the expressive potential of Murano glasswork in both form and finish. Sculptural and rhythmic, the light invites closer attention when lit or dormant.
Design
The fixture features five thick glass panels, each hand-formed with a textured ghiaccio (ice) finish. Alternating between clear and deep green, the glass ripples outward in a gentle arc from a central metal mount. The green glass has a tactile surface, catching the light unevenly and casting soft, fragmented reflections. Set against the white ghiaccio texture, the contrast feels measured but lively. Behind the glass structure, a brushed steel wall mount holds the composition in place and discreetly houses the electrical components. Light spreads in lateral bands through the textured surfaces, diffusing in both directions with subtle gradation.
The design is modular in feel, though it is a single complete composition. The controlled repetition of the curved forms and use of color reflect the Maestri Vetrai approach, where artisanal techniques are paired with rational geometries. The visual weight of the piece changes depending on the ambient light, and the translucent effect offers depth from different angles.
The applique is in very good condition. Glass elements are complete and free of chips or cracks, and the metal structure is clean with only minor signs of wear. The light has been tested and functions as intended.
The lamp has a clear sticker on the backplate
