About the Item

Rare pair of large wall lamps mod. 1537 designed by Pietro Chiesa for Fontana Arte in 1936. Conical brass frame, frosted and ground crystal diffusers. Eccellenti condition. In 1933 a department specializing in modern furniture was created, which took the name FontanaArte, whose direction, at first entrusted to Ponti, soon afterwards, at Ponti's suggestion, passed to Pietro Chiesa, who was able to guide it to the world's top of the sector, until his untimely death in 1948. A wide variety of items were created: furniture, plates, boxes, portrait frames, mirrors, sculptures, stained glass windows, often designed by the most famous artists. But it was above all in lighting fixtures that FontanaArte proved to be extraordinarily avant-garde, with models of the purest rationalism, masterfully executed by making the most of all the crystal workings that were most congenial to it. For these and other historic Italian design furniture follow our SECOND YOUTH gallery, we offer custom research and restoration services. On-site assembly at customer's request.
