20th century pair of French chiselled and gilt bronze lamps
Measurements: cm height 50 x diameter 13; base 9 x 9 cm. With the lampshade the lamp is 73 cm high
The particular pair of lamps was made in finely chiselled and gilt bronze in France at the beginning of the 20th century.
They are composed of a vase body resting on a square base. The vase is finely chiselled with phytomorphic motifs, palm leaves, volutes and pine cones. The realization of these bas-reliefs and high reliefs is complex and arduous and it requires particular experience and skill by the bronze artist. The same applies to the processing of the rings which are obtained from the same loss wax casting and not at a later moment.
At the top of the vase there is an important decoration in palm-leaf bronze, extremely refined and elegant, which is also not easy to complete.
The lamps are particularly suitable to be placed on a bouillotte coffee table, splendid on a glass, crystal or plexiglass console table or even as bedside lights.
They already have a functioning electrified system that we recommend to modernize. It is also suggested to remake the lampshades, as the originals show some signs of wear.
