About the Item

This piece is an authorized replica made by Nelson Rockefeller. Below is the description from The Nelson Rockefeller Collection Catalog: Giacometti "Lady" table lamp executed by Giacometti. This elegant table lamp with its distinctive woman's head and sculpted base is solid bronze gilded with 24-karat. gold. The original shade has been replaced. It is 31.5" high (wt. 27 lbs.). In the late Nelson A. Rockefeller had his collection of original works by Diego and Alberto Giacometti cast in bronze and reproduced in small editions. The measurements without the shade are 24" with the fittings and 19.75" tall just the gilt gold area. Below is height and width with the shade. The approximate measurements at the base of the piece is 5” wide and 4.5” deep. This piece has the Nelson Rockefeller Mark and 1979. Information below from Phillips Auction House who auctioned one of Giacometti's original lamps in June 2019 for $375,000. (Reminder this one is an replica made by Nelson Rockefeller) "The present model Tête de Femme table lamp belongs to a group of decorative objects that Alberto Giacometti created for Jean-Michel Frank between 1932 and 1940. These works are deeply associated with Frank’s minimalist, often surrealist, interiors. Frank positioned Giacometti’s lamps and vases in prominent locations, as works of art meant to stand out from their stark surroundings, the sole recognizable elements in spaces largely defined by the anonymity of their forms. Recalling an architectural caryatid, the now iconic form of the present table lamp features the thoughtful detail and simplicity for which Giacometti’s decorative work is prized. The artist first conceived of his Tête de femme lamp in plaster around 1937, from which he later cast a version in bronze. The original plaster model of the lamp is now held in the collection of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris." In the late 1970s, Nelson Rockefeller decided to create a line of reproductions that were marketed through catalogs in Neiman Marcus and Art Galleries. "The Nelson Rockefeller Collection" was a collection of important high quality furniture, art and objects created from the originals Rockefeller himself owned. Rockefeller's purpose for creating these reproductions "was for others to share the enjoyment of living with beautiful things."

Art Deco Lady Figurine Table Lamp Bronze Sculpture, French circa 1930

This is a stunning figurine table lamp of a nude lady bronze Figurine sculpture made in France, circa 1930. The figurine is heavy and made of bronze metal with good detail. It has been cold painted with a green colour which has worn away in places, showing a patinated bronze colour beneath. The lady is stood on a round ball above a shaped shell like base. The figure is holding the lamp above her head with the electric cable running into the base and vertically up her back to the lamp fitting above. A coloured spherical glass shade firmly sits in the dished support. The light is currently fitted with a small bayonet fitting, the whole electrical fitting having been PAT tested for safety compliance in the UK. The fitting could easily be modified to suit the electricity supply of the country where it might be used . This piece is typical of the Art Deco aesthetic, with the sleek lines of the nude girl figure holding the globe light above. The lamp is in full working order. This is a substantial heavy piece weighing about 2.5Kg unpacked. Overall a beautiful original Art Deco Lady Figurine...
