About the Item
Rare and precious "Aurora" table lamp, designed by Luciano Frigerio in the 1970s, an authentic expression of his unmistakable stylistic language that blends sculptural art with functionality. Entirely crafted in brass, it features a solid circular base and a cylindrical shaft made through the lost-wax casting technique, which gives the surface a rich material texture composed of irregular reliefs and recesses. This artisanal process, typical of Frigerio's most refined production, creates a sophisticated play of light and shadow that enhances the warm and changing reflections of brass.
As with all of Luciano Frigerio's cast creations, this model was produced in a limited edition, making it today extremely rare and highly collectible, with very few surviving examples. The piece retains a timeless charm and represents a perfect balance between sculpture and functional object-a quality that has made Frigerio's works internationally appreciated.
The conical lampshade in light fabric diffuses a soft and enveloping light, ideal for creating a warm and elegant atmosphere in residential interiors or representative spaces. A true collector's piece that, beyond its lighting function, enriches the space as an authentic work of art of Italian mid-20th-century design.

Luciano Frigerio (1928-1999), born in Desio, left an indelible mark on the world of design and furniture-making, inheriting a family tradition of fine cabinetmaking. His initial education, culminating in a diploma in accounting from Collegio Pio XI, was enriched by his passion for furniture design and musical composition.
The socio-economic context of Brianza in the 1960s offered entrepreneurial opportunities in the art of furniture, and Frigerio skillfully embraced them. His experience in renowned workshops and encounters with leading figures such as Gio Ponti and Franco Albini inspired the transformation of the family business into a company oriented toward international markets. In 1973, Frigerio was awarded the title of Commendatore of the Italian Republic in recognition of his dedication to fine cabinetmaking.
The distinctive hallmark of his career emerged with the realization of his dream: furniture as unique works of art. Supported by a team of skilled technicians, Frigerio created the "Sculpture Furniture in Solid Wood" and the "Sculpture Beds in Cast Bronze," representing a unique alternative to the industrial production of the time. These one-of-a-kind pieces embodied artisanal excellence and the fusion of precious materials, positioning themselves as true works of art within the design landscape.
Collaboration with renowned Italian architects and designers, including Franco Albini, Sergio Asti, and Paolo Portoghesi, consolidated Frigerio's standing in the design world. His belief that architects could design unique furniture for fine cabinetmaking guided the company's philosophy, which focused on the production of numbered and signed pieces, each one of a kind. Between the 1970s and 1990s, the company expanded its presence, opening ten showrooms across major Italian cities.
Recognition of his contributions culminated in the conferment of the title of Knight of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem in 1989. Frigerio's works adorn major art galleries in Italy and abroad and have earned awards at events such as the Salone Internazionale del Mobile Italiano and Abitare il Tempo.
Permanent exhibitions in Milan, including Galleria del Sagrato and the "Art Gallery" in Via Montenapoleone, testify to Frigerio's enduring presence in the heart of the Milanese artistic scene. His legacy continues through exclusive works that celebrate the union of functionality, aesthetics, and artisanal mastery in the world of furniture and art. His influence remains a benchmark for innovation and excellence in contemporary design.
