About the Item

A wonderful Daum crystal lamp on a contrasting crystal base with original sculptural shade. The base is a very dark blue to black crystal. The shade has been made to pick up the contrast of dark and light colored glass. The shade sports a chocolate brown and cobalt blue waxed ribbon trim on a white (now faded/discolored) plastic material. Overall condition is very good, notwithstanding some signs of aging in the materials. Still looking handsome after all these years - true style never fades! One note on the shade, there is a crease where the shade has been dinged, perhaps after some over-enthusiastic jiving nearby. It doesn't appear at all when the lamp is lit. It is apparent when the lamp is off. However, just a part of the aged finish. See images. The shade can be situated in two ways. The final photo shows a more upright position. We prefer the louche, relaxed version shown in most of the images. Takes one B22 Bayonet Cap bulb. A NOTE ON WIRING: This item is rewired to Australian/NZ Standard and has been tested and tagged safe for a nominal 230v system (supply of anywhere from 210-240v). Australian and New Zealand buyers must consult a registered electrician for hard wired installation or safety tag will be void. Plug and play if this item is a lamp. This light is compatible with European 220v electrical systems but wire colours may differ and correct bulbs may or may not be readily available. Please check with your bulb supplier before purchase - many are available online. Consult your electrician for hard wired installation or to change bulb sockets (or for plug change if this item is a lamp). In the US and anywhere a 110v system is in place - this light may or may not require rewiring to meet your local safety standards and correct bulbs may or may not be readily available. Please use the information provided to seek advice on compatibility from your locally registered electrician before purchase. They will be able to advise on the potential need for rewiring, bulb socket changes, or if this item is a lamp, for plug change. Before purchase, please check with your bulb supplier - many are available online. Use of LED bulbs is recommended (to prevent overheating and reduce power usage).

Zaccagnini Lamp in White with Gold Leaf, Italy, 1950s
By Ugo Zaccagnini

A large Hollywood Regency lamp with stylised decoration, standing 32 inches tall to the top of the shade. In keeping with the 1940s-1950s decorative style which saw large lamps move into the domestic market, this lamp is influenced by the scale and themes of Hollywood blockbuster set design. These make fabulous lamps for cocktail lounges or theatres of public entertainment such as bars, restaurants or cafes. They are pure expressions of maximalism and mid-20th century Hollywood glamour...
