About the Item

A rare table lamp by Paul Secon. His lights are more commonly found as pendants. It had lost is internal fixtures so we had our master craftsman make an appropriate white and chrome harp fixture for the interior, based on images of original Paul Secon table lamps. The new internal fixture highlights the clear Lucite design beautifully. The internal fixture also makes it easy to change the bulb. Simply unscrew and remove the core. A bit like taking a core out of a nuclear reactor - very appropriate visuals for the period in which the lamp was produced. Takes one B15 or SBC (small bayonet cap) bulb to max 40w for conventional incandescent bulbs. LED can go much brighter as they produce little heat. Bulb included in sale.  A splendid piece of 1960s Space Age design. Tested and tagged, rewired to Australian Standard for a 240v system. It is compatible with European 220v electrical systems, simply change plug. Rewiring is recommended for use in the US and anywhere a 110v system is in place.

Minor signs of wear, eg. shallow scratches to lucite, only visible on close inspection. Parts for internal fixture are used originals, some tiny loss of white paint on bulb fixture and from chrome on finial. See images.

A large Hollywood Regency lamp with stylised decoration, standing 32 inches tall to the top of the shade. In keeping with the 1940s-1950s decorative style which saw large lamps move into the domestic market, this lamp is influenced by the scale and themes of Hollywood blockbuster set design. These make fabulous lamps for cocktail lounges or theatres of public entertainment such as bars, restaurants or cafes.
