French Sèvres Porcelain Watteau Scene Ormolu Cobalt Blue Table Lamp Bronze Satyr
About the Item
Stunning French Sevres Soft Paste Signed Porcelain and Ormolu with Twin Handles modelled as a Satyre, Electric Table Lamp of traditional bulbous form and of outstanding quality, and good size proportions, raised on a square stepped heavy gauge ormolu base with canted corners and beaded detail. Signature indistinct at lower left.
The central front reserve depicting a seated Mother and child in Eighteenth Century dress in landscape with a pair of doves on the ground, within a reserve of lavish tooled gilding, back view with a view of a hilly landscape and a lake on a rich cobalt blue ground with gilded highlights. This is quite a chunky and large example bigger than it looks in the images, please note the detailed dimensions
Second quarter of the Nineteenth Century.
Condition: Good condition for such early pieces with no losses to porcelain, bronze mounts have been professionally re-gold plated, some wear to gilding within porcelain areas. Professionally re-wired for electricity.
