French Sèvres Porcelain Watteau Scene Ormolu Cobalt Blue Table Lamp 19th Century
About the Item
Stunning French Sèvres soft paste signed porcelain and ormolu twin handle electric table lamp of traditional bulbous form and of outstanding quality, and good size proportions, raised on a square stepped heavy gauge ormolu base with canted corners and beaded detail. Signed lower right E. CARELLE
The central front reserve depicting a seated courting couple in 18th century dress in landscape within a reserve of lavish tooled gilding, back view with a view of a hilly landscape and a lake on a rich cobalt blue ground with gilded highlights,
Second quarter of the 19th century.
Condition: Good condition for such early pieces with no losses to porcelain, bronze mounts have been professionally re-gold plated, some wear to gilding within porcelain areas. Professionally re-wired for electricity.
