About the Item
An exquisite and most decorative pair of Chinese 18th century Famille Rose Porcelain and French Louis XVI st. Ormolu mounted lamps. Each most elegant vase mounted into a lamp is raised by alternating circular rosette and rectangular acanthus leaf feet supporting an Ormolu socle decorated with a delicately chased Byzantine braid border. The Famille Rose Porcelain body is decorated at the base and collar with a band of repeating rosettes with pictorial reserves displaying pairs of birds on branches, while the main body shows sumptuously hand painted scholarly scenes. The body is flanked by Ormolu arms with foliate details and ending above the bezel in volutes adorned with berried laurel garlands. Topping the lid is an Ormolu fluted finial decorated with swaging bow tied drapes.
