About the Item
Vintage 1970s German bisque matt white crumpled paper bag ceramic table lamp manufactured by Sompex and similar to vases designed by Tapio Wirkkala for Rosenthal.
The sculptural crumpled and very realistic "paper bag" shape aligns with the mid century modern trend for unexpected, organic forms which similarly drives interest in living‑sculpture lighting. It's playful minimalism and tactile matt white texture adds to its allure.
The lamp is in very good vintage condition with no chips or cracks. Rewired with a clear plastic transparent flex and matching on/off switch which is fixed along it. The base is covered with rubber to avoid the surface it's placed on becoming scratched or for the lamp to be chipped. To gain access to the lamp bulb holder the rubber in the centre had to be removed to gain access. Please refer to the images.
A single Edison E14 screw in lightbulb is required.
Perfect for a dark corner on a shelf or on a sideboard in most rooms of the home to add some fun and a point of interest.
