Doppelganger Stand Mirror

About the Item

The Doppelgänger is a German word that refers to the existence of a copy identical to one that projects it, one that can be in two places at the same time. Where a person manages to project a double of himself from his environment, mood or circumstances. The concept of this piece plays with these theories. One is the person who uses it and the other is the reflection of itself, as another independent being. Returning to the feelings that are generated when we see our reflection, our other self, that self to which we aspire and which we seek to be. Doppelgänger seeks to invite the user to observe himself from the outside, to recognize himself as another, to reflect and really think about what we want, where we are going and why we are here. Marble, in spite of its coldness, was in the Renaissance period the closest thing to living material, which allowed creation and gave balance to art. The mirror, where the reflection allows us to clearly see the reality that surrounds us. Wood, a fibrous substance, unique and unrepeatable that gives us some contact with our origins. The colors; the black representing silence, darkness and loneliness, and the red symbolizing power, vitality and ambition. A combination of elements forming these symmetrical, mythical and traditional forms. A sculptural piece that evokes the possibility of looking at oneself as someone else, seeking a balance in their emotions and sensations through isolated moments of reflection. Created with a combination of robotic technology, manual / craft production, local materials and Mexican design.
