About the Item

An understated piece by the iconic Brot Paris, this 1940s Art Deco triptych mirror is framed in ivory-painted wood with delicate hand-carved detailing. The mercury mirror glass features beautiful foxing, adding depth and character to the piece. Designed with two adjustable side panels framed in brass, it offers a dynamic, panoramic view. Perfect for a bathroom, dressing room, or entryway, it can be used open or closed, adapting seamlessly to your space. A Brot mirror embodies the legacy of Miroir Brot, the esteemed French atelier founded in 1826 by François Brot, mirror maker to King Charles X. Celebrated for precision and innovation, Brot revolutionized the art of reflection. In 1875, they introduced the triptych mirror—an ingenious design with three panels offering a complete and versatile viewing experience. By 1927, they had redefined luxury with the "Mirophare," the first illuminated magnifying beauty mirror, which became a hallmark of opulence in high-end hotels. Condition: Good vintage condition, with beautiful foxing to the mercury glass. The painted wood frame displays subtle, age-related wear, while the brass trim has developed a rich patina. Two screw holes along the top allow seamless wall mounting.
