Imposing Mirror with Large Red Marble Console - Italy - 1960s
About the Item
Elegant and sophisticated entrance mirror with imposing red marble console table, circa late 1960s, made in Italy. The mirror consists of two mirror panels (one below and one above the marble shelf), with vertical bands on the sides in glass/smoke mirror, edged and framed in brass. Among them, a massive iron shelf, supports the wonderful shaped marble, made from two slabs of different marbles, in fact, as you can see in the photos, the top is maximum red, while from below, you can see a black marble. This detail, besides making the console more solid, gives a touch of refinement and sophistication to this exclusive piece of furniture. The iron bracket was made recently, as, the original one could not be removed from the wall that housed it, nevertheless, an exact copy was made. Brass patina, tarnish and wear from use as shown. The mirror has marks in some places, as shown, as well as surface scratches/general wear and a crack in one spot on the smoked side edge. Defects are shown in photos. It remains an impressive and fascinating piece that takes center stage in any setting.
