Victorian Mahogany Vanity or Shaving Table Top Swivel Mirror. English Circa 1865
About the Item
Unique Victorian table top (cheval type) swivel mirror, that would have been on top of a dresser and used by a lady as a vanity mirror to tend to her "make up" and hair; or by a gentleman to be used for shaving, combing hair, and "tidying up".
Made of mahogany, and of English manufacture, circa 1865, the mirror swivels and is adjustable by turning the two knobs to each side of the mirror stand. The drawer in front is, similarly, of figured mahogany and would have been used to store basic coifing articles and "necessaires".
The condition is very good and in all original condition with a lovely patina to the surface, albeit, there is a three inch line of veneer separation to the surface of the side panel; continues one inch on the top surface; more than likely a result that coincides with shrinkage of the underlying wood; typical of 150 year antique. It is nothing structural; mainly an aesthetic and visual thing (see image). This is a unique item, with free shipping, that is priced competitively with similar table top mirrors in the market place.

- Staffordshire Cottage Still Bank, English, circa 1880By StaffordshireLocated in Incline Village, NVVery attractive and well-made decorative and colorful Staffordshire porcelain money box or savings bank; made in England, indicative of the style potters from that region employed, circa 1880. Nicely detailed with green floral facie, orange double pane windows and front door, and a white painted cottage with brown steps and green fauna at entry. There were no "coin traps" or provisions for coin removal so banks such as these are rare since smashing or breaking the bank was the only method by which the money could be retrieved. The bank is in very good all original condition with only a minor "hairline" repair to one of the chimney stacks (see image). It is very sound and done a long time ago and is hardly noticeable. Being a cross collectible, this would be a very unique addition for a Staffordshire collector indeed (the subject being a money box), or a welcome compliment to any still bank...Category
