American Empire Period Gilt and Painted Wood Mirror

About the Item

This very good American Empire gilt and painted wood mirror is of the period circa 1825-1835 was made in New York State and is in almost perfect condition. The standard format of turned and ring divided shaped columns is set onto a flat ground between raised corner blocks bearing convex elevated bosses with button centers. The gilding is in matte and burnished work and the painted parts are done in imitation of patinated bronze. While there is some wear and some rub thrus the surface is in amazing condition and the glass appears to be original with very little spotting and mostly to the edges and the frame retains its original wooden back.
