Brutalist Mirror in hammered copper in the style of A. Bragalini, Italy 1960s

About the Item

A mid-century mirror with an unusual and sinuous shape, the circular shape becomes three-dimensional, rising and falling, creating waves and craters just like the lunar surface. This vintage mirror is made in Italy between the 50s and 60s and recalls the work of the artist Angeli Bragalini due to its sculptural style, techniques used and use of copper. Angelo Bragalini was an Italian architect and sculptor who mastered goldsmithing techniques which he used to create works of art but also to create artefacts and furnishing accessories in his material of choice: copper. He also collaborated on the creation of scenographic elements for iconic films such as 8 1/2 (1963) and Juliet of the Spirits, hired by a great admirer of his: Federico Fellini. The result of artisanal workmanship, this brutalist mirror has a frame made of hand-embossed copper on which a circular mirror is applied. The mirror is the original vintage one and is oxidized and dulled by time. A surface cleaning was carried out on the frame in order not to damage the splendid patina of time.
