About the Item
A wonderful and richly detailed French mid 18th century Louis XVI Period Giltwood mirror. This stunning mirror is raised on most decorative acanthus leaf supports below Greek Key accented blocks and foliate garlands leading up each side. The bottom frieze is centered by a charming bouquet of flowers tied with a ribbon and flanked by additional acanthus leaves. The original mirror plate is set within the inner Rais de Coeur border before the outer beaded band. Above is the exceptional top crown centered by the Urn of Prosperity with scrolled handles. The eternal flame rises from within the urn, while laurel garlands drape to each side and hang from delicate rings. Satin and burnished blocks accented with rosettes flank the crown and display additional flames above. All original gilding and mirror plate throughout.
