About the Item
An elegant and high quality Italian 19th century Louis XVI st. patinated Wood and Giltwood Trumeau mirror. This stunning Trumeau, with its original mirror plate, is raised on a straight patinated Wood plinth below the foliate designed frame. A charming and richly carved Giltwood twisted ribbon trim accents the inner frame, before a patinated off white band and Giltwood foliate border. Above is the wonderful oval medallion displaying a colorful print of a young soldier with a maiden resting in his lap. He gestures to Cupid, who is depicted in the background with his bow drawn. The medallion is set within a Rais de Coeur carved trim and a twisted ribbon band all below a Giltwood tied bow. Flanking the two sides of the medallion below are two acorn branches tied together at the center. The curved top is once again decorated by the same Rais de Coeur and twisted ribbon carved trims. Wonderfully decorative with various tones of soft pastel colors, and all original patina throughout.
