About the Item
This is a very old mirror made in Japan. It is estimated to have been made in the Meiji period (1860s-1900s), and the decoration is impressive, reflecting the strong influence of Western culture. However, the finish is carefully crafted by Japanese craftsmen, and it is filled with the beauty of a quiet fusion of Eastern and Western cultures.
The frame is made of cedar with plaster decoration on the surface. The delicate patterns that frame the edges and the softly rounded corners create an impression of elegance and serenity. The plaster and paint have peeled off in parts over the years, but this in turn gives the mirror a “decadent beauty” that is unique to this mirror.
The mirror surface has been left in its original state, and although there are some dulling and staining, it is in good condition overall. It reflects the image well with minimal distortion. One cannot help but be surprised and respectful of the fact that the mirror itself continues to function even after more than 100 years.
A wire is installed on the back of the mirror, making it suitable for wall-hanging.
The mirror will be shipped from Japan in a wooden box for safe and secure delivery.
Weight: 16.5 kg

Our Philosophy
Objects always tell the truth.
All I can do is just to face with them sincerely and give
them deep affection as much as I can.
There is no boundary of nationalities and of eras in beauty.
But I think now is the time we choose 'Japanese style' and it
will be the best way to remind us of what we are losing
today and to question us about an essence of beauty again.
I hope that you can touch the memories which the objects here have,
feel and think of something invisible but exists undoubtedly.
