About the Item
This is an old Japanese-made black mirror.
The back is inscribed with the date "Meiji 41," indicating it was made around 1908, dating back to the Meiji period. It was likely used in barber shops and Western-style buildings at the time.
The frame is made of wood and plaster and is decorated with a pattern. There is some peeling in places, but this is one element that expresses the beauty of aging.
The color, which is somewhere between deep brown and black, gives the impression of the beautiful texture of lacquer that has been acquired over a long period of time.
The mirror surface appears slightly cloudy due to some internal peeling.
