About the Item
A wonderful and most decorative Milanese 18th century Louis XVI Period patinated Wood and Giltwood mirror. This elegant mirror is centered at the bottom by a scrolled Giltwood reserve flanked by spiral reeded finials to each side, and below a beaded Giltwood band. Intricate and wonderfully detailed columns lead up each side of the frame and display charming urns below scrolled foliate sprays of Giltwood laurel and acanthus leaves. At the center is the original patinated mirror plate set within a foliate border, and below a charming patinated green panel accented with a Giltwood rosette flanked by foliate scrolls. Above are inverted Giltwood seashells below the patinated wood entablature displaying a dentil band at the base and foliate band at the top. Stunning swags of patinated flowers drape down each side, with the top crown centered by a large scale seashell and water flora reserve. All original gilt, patina and mirror plate throughout.
