About the Item
A stately and most decorative pair of Italian 18th century Louis XVI Period patinated Wood and Mecca mirrors. Each palatially scale rectangular mirror displays rich carvings throughout and original top and bottom mirror plates. The base is decorated with a bouquet of flowers and fruits amidst foliate garlands while flanked by rosettes to each side. Above each rosette is a carved vase of flowers with intertwining branches. Between the top and lower mirror plates is a carving of a bull surrounded by garlands. The top crown showcases a large scale scrolled acanthus leaf amidst garlands and flanked by hanging palmettes on each side. Wonderful proportions and rich patination throughout.
